The building of storm, its clothing and the people who wear it.

Andy Painting, Gala Harriers runner

Sub 18min 5K | 37min 10K | 1hr 25min Half Marathon

Based in the Scottish Borders, running for Galashiels running club Gala Harriers.

“What seems hard now will one day be your warm up”

Learning all the time, running is a journey in every sense and meaning of the word. Learning to embrace the pain of a hard training session. There is magic in misery. Just ask any runner. Finding your limits and pushing through them. The days that count.

But also to appreciate the easy runs with friends on a loch side trail on a summer evening, where pace and distance become irrelevant. These are moments in time that allow you to see the bigger picture.

There will come a day when I can no longer run. Today is not that day.

Scott Milne, Strongest Man

UK’s Strongest Man finalist 2018 & 2019. Scotland’s Strongest Man Finalist 2015-2019. Scottish Heavyweight & British Super-heavyweight amateur Muay Thai champion 2011/2012.

Scott was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in April 1990. He has always been highly involved in Sport since the age of 5 and his first passion like many other boys was football. Playing right up until under 18’s level Scott then began training in Muay Thai boxing. After a few years of training he began fighting and was undefeated in his 4 year career achieving the Scottish heavyweight and British super-heavyweight amateur titles along the way. During this time Scott had also began weight training at his local gym. As he began to get bigger this effected his stamina in the ring and Scott was faced with a decision to make, he decided to give up the Thai boxing and focus on getting bigger and stronger in the gym.

Scott had always enjoyed watching things like the worlds strongest man on TV like many of us do. But it wasn’t until he went to watch the Scotland’s Strongest Man Final in 2014 when he truly fell in love with the sport. Later that year he began to train Strongman events such as farmers walks, yoke carry’s, log press and atlas stones. He decided to enter the Lanarkshire’s Strongest Man under 105kg competition in September 2014 where he placed 3rd against a field of top 105kg competitors at that time. With Scott being 6ft 2” it was a struggle to make the 105kg body weight required to compete in that category so he made the decision to move up to Open weight category.

Scott then entered a novice Open weight competition in November of 2014 and placed 2nd overall. It was then that Scott decided to stick to the open weight category and push on to qualify for the Scotland’s Strongest Man Final. He entered the qualifier in early 2015 and to his delight he qualified for the final in his first year. The highlights of the 2015 final for Scott was a 130kg log press PB and a 340kg deadlift PB. Scott only placed 12th out of 16 finalist however just to get there in his first year was a missive achievement in itself.
Scott has successfully qualified for the final every year since and has worked his way up the ranks to be one of Scotland’s top strongmen, brining his previous log PB from 130kg in 2015 to 160kg and deadlift from 340kg to 370kg.

Scott has also competed in the UKs Strongest Man Finals for the last two years placing 8th out of 16 of the top strongmen in the UK. He is looking forward to seeing what the next few years can bring and we look forward to helping him on that journey.

Rob Wilson, Amputee Football Player

When I received the opportunity to join Storm Athletics, it was after 2 weekends playing for Partick Thistle in the Irish Amputee League where coincidently there were Storms, the rain was sideways and the wind was causing all sorts of havoc. Knowing what I know now about the quality of the clothing I know I will be taking them with me, rain, hail or shine.

I play football for Partick Thistle Amputee’s and we currently compete in the League of Ireland along with 4 Irish teams. I got off the mark scoring on my competitive debut hoping to continue this and potentially represent Scotland at the next European competition.

Having a Scottish based company, like Storm Athletics, support me during this time where I have to stay in best physical condition possible is an absolute blessing. I couldn’t wish for a better opportunity and I am proud to represent Storm in the Amputee Football world where I can’t wait to promote this brand.

Jack Turner, Professional Boxer

When I joined the Storm Athletics team I was just about to step into the ring for my professional debut in Glasgow, Scotland.

As an amateur boxer I had over 100 fights, losing only 15. Starting boxing at the age of 14 it was always my ambition to be a fighter. And one day, a CHAMPION.

Since then, I’ve become 2-0 so far in my professional career.

Storm clothing helps me stay compressed when I train. The range of clothes is literally perfect for my sport. From training leggings to the hoodies when I’m running. To the Dri-Fit shirts that maintain my body temperature when I’m training.

Can’t wish for a better opportunity and support from a Scottish company. I look forward to more fights and more Storm Athletics ranges for me to use.

Proud to fight as a Scottish athlete. And proud to represent Storm Athletics UK and the team behind it.

I am an official Storm Athletics athletic sponsor. When I was approached to become a sponsored athlete, I couldn’t say no. A British athletic clothing company based in Scotland. Is hard to turn down. I started skating at the age of 6. And have recently become the British senior ladies solo ice dance champion 2018.

I love training on the ice and in the gym in my Storm Athletics pants, leggings and base layers. One of the many perks of being a sponsored athlete is the FREE clothing to train in, and I even have my own personalised Ashley Mitchell hoodie. I love being part of the Storm Athletics family and look forward to tackling more competitions and gaining more titles.

Charli, Powerlifter

I wore my Storm Athletics T-Shirt along with my storm athletics leggings while I was climbing the highest mountain on the UK. The leggings were perfect as they were just the right material for the weather conditions. I also was wearing my storm athletics tshirt the day I hit my PB of 100kg on a deadlift. I was feeling very nervous but had to live up to what my tshirt said - #IAMTHESTORM. Now when I aim for high weights I tend to wear my lucky storm tshirt.

Jennifer, Powerlifter

I first purchased from Storm Athletics when I started my powerlifting journey. I was looking for comfort and style but most importantly for me, I needed durability. My athletic pants & athletic shorts are ideal as the waistband doesn't slip and they're completely squat proof allowing me to focus 100% on the lifts. The shin covers are a god send for me, during my deadlift I found I bruised very easily. This eliminates that worry , again letting me focus my energy into the lift. Not to mention the red and black colouring looks badass!
I also recently ran a 10k in typical Scottish weather. The wind and rain were unforgiving throughout the course but the base layer, whilst still being light, kept me warm. I'm excited for my next storm athletics purchase and hope one day it can get me on to a winner's podium. #IAMTHESTORM

Natasha, Rock Climber / Mountaineer

If there’s one thing every traveler should have, it's good quality outdoor clothing. Invest well and you won't be that person who lags behind the group for various clothing and footwear related mishaps. When we were planning our trip to Nepal to trek to Everest Base Camp finding great clothing brands for our activities was our main priority. Three things we were looking for: comfort, durability, and style were our main criteria. The last of these often tend to be the hardest to find. Fortunately, there are brands like Storm Athletics out there to take you to the top.
